The Welsh Government has announced renewed and increased funding to the Holocaust Educational Trust, giving two post-16 students from every school and college in Wales the opportunity to participate in our Lessons from Auschwitz Project, which includes a one-day visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau and seminars where students hear from a Holocaust survivor.

Announcing the funding, Rt Hon Carwyn Jones AM, the First Minister of Wales and Leighton Andrews AM, Minister for Education and Skills, met with two Holocaust Educational Trust Ambassadors at the Welsh Assembly, Gwenan Jones and Ioan Hughes of Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bro Myrddin in Carmarthenshire. Praising the Project, Leighton Andrews remarked on the value of Lessons from Auschwitz in helping young people to consider issues of racism and antisemitism today.
