  1. Who is the course open to?
    • The course is open to one pair of 16-18 year old students in post-16 education per school/college, studying any subject and from any ethnic or religious background. Due to the intensive nature of the course each school must send two students, to enable them to support one another throughout the process.
    • A limited number of places for teachers are available and will be allocated after all student applications have been processed.
    • As well as student courses we run Continued Professional Development courses for teachers once a year, usually in the summer term. Details of the next CPD course will be available on the website early in 2013.
  2. What does the course fee include and who pays for the students?
    • The course is heavily subsidised by the Holocaust Educational Trust and sponsored by a Government grant, keeping the cost at only £59 per participant.
    • The course fee includes all printed materials, the visit to Poland, both seminars and travel insurance.
    • The £59 fee does not include transportation to and from the seminars and the UK airport, or any accommodation that may be required for any part of the course.
    • Some schools provide funding for their students, whilst others ask students to pay or raise the funds themselves.
    • Extra costs which are not covered in the participant fee may include transportation to and from both seminars and the airport, with the possible cost of staying overnight at the airport.
  3. Can you help with additional travel and accommodation costs?

The Holocaust Educational Trust is now happy to be able to offer travel subsidies to schools or participants that may need additional financial support. Applications are evaluated and offered on a case-by-case basis. You can find more information on our travel subsidy here.

  4. I have missed the application deadline; can I still apply for a place on the course?

Yes, we will continue to accept applications until the course is full. Applications received after the course has been filled will be placed on a reserve list and schools who do not receive a place will be given a full refund.

  5. Do participant’s need a passport to participate on the course?

All participants are required to have a valid passport for the visit to Poland.

  6. My school/college’s Local Authority needs paperwork, can you help?

Please click here to find the information you need.

  7. Is there a dress code?

There is not a dress code for the seminars, however participants will usually dress smart casual. Participants are urged to check the weather in Krakow before the visit to Poland and must ensure they dress appropriately.

  8. My EHIC card has not arrived yet; can I still complete my online registration form without this?

Yes, you can email us your Personal Identification Number once your card arrives and we will update your details.
