Comment from Chief Executive Karen Pollock MBE marking Yom HaShoah, which takes place from sundown 15th April to sundown 16th April.
"Yom HaShoah has always been an important time for the Jewish community to remember the six million who were ruthlessly murdered by the Nazis and to reflect upon how we honour their memory. This year takes on additional significance as we come together to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the Holocaust. It is a tremendous credit to this country that Holocaust education and remembrance is such an integral part of our national consciousness, but as we look to a future without our inspirational Holocaust survivors, we must remember our collective responsibility - as a community - to ensure that we never forget how the Nazis sought to destroy us all, and the millions of Jewish people who were murdered at their hands."
