On Monday 7th September our Annual Appeal Dinner took place at Guildhall in London. Our Appeal Dinner allows us to carry out our important work in schools and communities across the country.

We were delighted to have Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, as our keynote speaker. The Business Secretary praised the work of the Trust and talked about the impact that visiting Auschwitz as part of our Lessons from Auschwitz Project had on him.

Speaking at the Dinner, he said: "Tonight I call on every decent Briton, whether you’re of any faith or none, to join us all in the fight against extremism and anti-Semitism. And I call on everyone here today to support the Holocaust Educational Trust, and to give the memory of the Holocaust a place within your walls. Because it happened. And it falls to us to see that it never happens again.” You can read the speech in full here.

Guests also heard from Sir Peter Bazalgette, Chairman of the UK Holocaust Memorial Foundation, which is overseeing the recommendations of the Prime Minister's Holocaust Commission announced at our Dinner in 2013. Read more about this here

On the night, we premiered our new Appeal Film which reflects on the past year when we marked 70 years since the end of the Holocaust, and looks towards to future of Holocaust education and remembrance. You can watch this film here.
