We were saddened to hear of the passing of Bettine Le Beau.
Bettine was 8 years old when the Germans invaded Belgium. Her father was at a convention in London at the time and advised her mother to travel to Paris and apply for a British visa but the Germans invaded France before she could secure this. The family was moved to Bordeaux and then deported to a camp at Gurs. Betting was smuggled out of the camp and taken to a home for rescued children. When the implementation fo the 'Final Solution' began, the home was shut down and Bettine was hidden by a nearby French family.
After the war, Bettine moved to London and later became a model, broadcaster, presenter and actress and Bond Girl.
