The theme for Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) 2021 is ‘Be the Light in the Darkness’. This theme provides a useful focal point for any commemorative event. It encourages reflection on the actions and motives of those people – Jews and non-Jews – who sought to resist the Holocaust in the face of indifference or outright hostility. And, it provides opportunities to remember those who actively sought to protect or save others. These individuals and communities were a light for others during this dark period of the past.

Invite an Ambassador

You might be interested in inviting our Ambassadors to contribute to your event. Our Ambassadors are individuals who have completed our Lessons from Auschwitz or Belsen 75 Projects whilst in sixth form and are based all over the UK. Remembrance itself is a form of light and as they share what they have learned from their participation, and from meeting a Holocaust survivor, our Ambassadors offer additional opportunities to think about what it means to be a light in the darkness.  To discuss arranging for an Ambassador to support your HMD event, email our Ambassador Team at This email address is being protected from spambots. Live Survivor Webcast

Ahead of HMD, on Tuesday 26th January at 10am we are hosting our annual webcast. This is an incredible opportunity for students across the UK to come together to listen to a survivor sharing their testimony. Students will be able to ask the survivor questions about their experiences during the Holocaust as part of the live event. To join us for our webcast, please register here.
