Following Wednesday’s vote in the European Parliament to initiate action against the Hungarian Government following growing concerns, Chief Executive of the Holocaust Educational Trust, Karen Pollock MBE, said:
“Hungary’s Prime Minister Mr Orbán has increasingly used antisemitic tropes and pursued a personal campaign against a Holocaust survivor - this has been alongside concerns of a broader narrative of hate and intolerance that is unacceptable.
“Antisemitism should be fought wherever it is found, irrespective of position, and we welcome any positive moves to ensure that the concerning policies and narratives which we have witnessed at times from the Hungarian Government does not become a norm in today’s politics.”
