Holocaust Memorial Day 2020

Ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day, Karen Pollock MBE, Chief Executive of the Holocaust Educational Trust said:

“Today, we mark Holocaust Memorial Day, the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. Seventy-five years ago, the world saw the unforgettable images coming out of the camps and started to grapple with the reality of what happened.

"Today, we remember the Holocaust alongside those that survived - men and women who endured unimaginable horrors in their younger years and today, in their older years, spend their time sharing their memories to ensure that the past is never forgotten. But we are all too aware that there will be a time in the not-too-distant future where we will do so without the important and harrowing first-hand accounts of these precious eyewitnesses.

"As the Holocaust moves further into history, it falls on all of us to ensure that their stories, and the stories of the six million Jewish men, women and children brutally murdered by the Nazis, are never forgotten."
