Programme overview

Our Annual Teacher Training Course at Yad Vashem is an advanced course. It is intended for teachers who aspire to lead Holocaust education in their schools, transmitting knowledge to colleagues and developing schemes of work. Our 14th annual course will consist of academic lectures on themes relevant to the Holocaust and pedagogical workshops. The programme is composed of a one-day introductory seminar, a 10-day visit to Yad Vashem in Israel and a follow-up weekend. The course gives teachers the opportunity to hear from leading Holocaust academics, allows for reflection on current classroom practice and showcases lesson resources.

Feedback from previous participants:

A wonderful learning experience with incredible & inspiring resources and people. Very privileged.

I came away from the course determined to discover how the subject is being taught around my school and how we can work together.

Thank you Yad Vashem & HET for a most fascinating, enriching and educational week. Highly recommend the Teacher Study Visit to Israel.

Who should apply?

Applications are invited from UK teachers of any relevant subject area who are currently in post and either teach or plan to teach the Holocaust. Participants are required to be available for all three parts of the course.

How much does it cost?

The course is free to attend. The Trust will provide meals and accommodation for the duration of the course. Participants are asked to cover the costs of their own travel to the seminar, to Israel and to the follow-up weekend, though the Trust can write a letter to their headteacher requesting that these be covered by their school’s CPD budget.
