Ambassador Study Visit Budapest
Tuesday 5th – Saturday 9th March 2024
We are delighted to offer all Ambassadors and Regional Ambassadors the opportunity to join us on our Spring 2024 Ambassador Study Visit to Budapest, where we will explore the history of the Holocaust in Budapest and its legacy today.
The Visit
Our latest Ambassador Study Visit will give you the opportunity to learn about both the unique history of the Holocaust in Hungary and its contemporary relevance, regarding memorialisation and Holocaust distortion. Participants will visit and explore a wide range of sites across Budapest, especially key memorials.
You will also have the opportunity to hear the testimony of a Holocaust survivor from Hungary and consider the human stories behind the sites we will visit.
Participants will explore:
- The history of Jewish life in Hungary
- Hungarian-Jewish experiences of the Holocaust
- What Hungary can teach us about memorialisation and national narratives of the past
Please note, participants will be responsible for booking and paying for their own flights to and from Budapest, plus travel from the airport, travel insurance and lunch on 3 days. Accommodation, transport during the visit and all other meals will be provided.

Applications due: 5pm, Wednesday 3rd January 2024

Orientation and Survivor Testimony: 6pm, Monday 26th February 2024 (via Zoom)
Ambassador Study Visit: Tuesday 5th – Saturday 9th March 2024
Project
All participants will be required to complete a project upon completion of the Visit that uses the knowledge they gain during and reaches at least 50 people. This is your chance to pass on what you learn during this unique opportunity and to make a real impact within your community!
How to Apply
All Ambassadors and Regional Ambassadors who will be 18 years of age by Tuesday 5th March 2024 may apply. All you need to do is fill in the application form to tell us why you’re interested and about your experience as an Ambassador so far!
Applications will close at 5pm on Wednesday 3rd January 2024. We will let you know if your application is successful by Friday 19th January 2024.
