Multi-School Outreach Event

Tuesday 19th March 2024 will mark 80 years since Nazi Germany occupied Hungary. To mark this event, we are inviting secondary school students in Year 9/S2 and above to take part in our next Multi-School Outreach event via Zoom from 10am-11:30am. With the occupation of Hungary so late in the war, Hungarian Jews were among the last in Europe to be targeted by the Nazis. Hungarian Jews had already suffered years of persecution under their own nationalist government, but the German invasion marked a fateful turning-point. Following the occupation approximately 440,000 Jews were deported from Hungary, most of them to their deaths in Auschwitz-Birkenau in the largest killing operation in Auschwitz’s history.

In this Multi School Outreach we will explore the complex history of Hungary and the Holocaust, before hearing from Holocaust survivor Paul Sved BEM, who was five years old when the occupation took place. Your students will also have the chance to ask Paul their own questions during the Q&A.

To sign up please fill in the registration form here. You will receive a Zoom link shortly before the session will take place.
