The Polish government has agreed on a new law to criminalise "insulting and slandering the good name of Poland".

Anyone who uses the phrase 'Polish death camps' faces up to three years in jail.

Karen Pollock MBE, Chief Executive of the Holocaust Educational Trust, said:
“The history of the Holocaust is a complex one and the Nazi occupation of Poland is no different. Accuracy when talking about this period of history is essential but the emphasis and priority should be to reach universal understanding and recognition of the facts through education.”

During the Nazi occupation of Poland, many concentration and death camps were built on Polish soil. In the past, these have sometimes been incorrectly referred to as 'Polish death camps'.
