Reacting to the news that Sir Eric Pickles is standing down from Parliament, Karen Pollock MBE, Chief Executive of the Holocaust Educational Trust said:
“Eric Pickles has been an unwavering advocate for Holocaust education and remembrance in Parliament and across the globe. We pay tribute to all he has done & will continue to do as a great friend of the Holocaust Educational Trust & the Jewish community. When Eric was asked what he would take on to his desert island by Kirsty Young on Radio 4, he said "If this is a Man" by Primo Levi, signed by all the Holocaust survivors he has got to know. This says all you need to know about Sir Eric Pickles - this cause is not work but a labour of love. We are lucky to have him but we'll certainly miss our chum in Parliament.”
