On Wednesday 18th April the Holocaust Educational Trust hosted a reception in the Scottish Parliament. Students, teachers and educators who have been involved in the Trust's work in Scotland gathered in the Garden Lobby at Holyrood to highlight the impact our educational programmes have made.

They were joined by MSPs of all parties, and guests including Henry and Ingrid Wuga, a remarkable couple who both came to Scotland after fleeing Nazi-occupied Europe as part of the Kindertransport.

Those assembled were privileged to hear from Judy Russell, whose late father Ernest Levy OBE, an inspirational man who settled in Scotland after surviving the Holocaust, was a tireless advocate for tolerance.

Dr Alasdair Allan MSP, Minister for Learning, Science and Scotland's Languages, spoke about his experience of joining Scottish students on a Holocaust Educational Trust visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau, as part of our Scottish Government-funded Lessons from Auschwitz Project.

The Trust is grateful to Siobhan McMahon MSP, who hosted the event and who spoke about the importance of young people understanding what took place during the Holocaust.
