Friday, 21st March 2025 10am - 11:30am. Multi-School Outreach Event to mark the Nazi occupation of Hungary.
The Holocaust Educational Trust invites secondary school students in Year 9/S2 and above to take part in our upcoming Multi-School Outreach event, taking place online via Zoom from 10.00-11:30 on Friday, 21st March 2025.
This session will mark Nazi Germany's occupation of Hungary – a pivotal moment in Holocaust history. As one of the last Jewish communities to be targeted, Hungarian Jews faced devastating consequences. Following years of persecution under their own nationalist government, the German occupation led to a significant escalation – culminating in the deportation of approximately 440,000 Hungarian Jews, most of whom were murdered at Auschwitz-Birkenau in the largest killing operation in the camp’s history.
During this event, we will explore the complex history of Hungary and the Holocaust before hearing from Holocaust survivor John Hajdu MBE, who was just seven years old when the occupation began. Your students will also have the opportunity to engage with John directly in a Q&A session.
To register, please fill out the registration form. A Zoom link will be sent to you shortly before the event.
