Karen Pollock CBE's comment on the Community Security Trust's Antisemitic Incidents Report 2020.
“Whilst it is good news that there has been a fall in antisemitic incidents in 2020, it is still worrying that the Community Security Trust has recorded the third highest total of incidents on record during the past year.
Despite restrictions on social interactions, CST recorded over 100 hate incidents each month for 11 of the last 12 months, a figure they had only recorded six times between 2006 and 2015. Antisemitism remains high in the UK.
Amongst the incidents listed, there is a worrying increase in the number which involved references to the Holocaust, the Nazis and Hitler, with a fifth of these glorifying the Holocaust or the idea of its reoccurrence. This latest report reminds us that our work is not yet done and reinforces the need to educate future generations on the Holocaust and its contemporary relevance.”
