Lessons from Auschwitz Universities

What is Lessons from Auschwitz Universities?

The Lessons from Auschwitz Universities Project is an educational initiative delivered by the Holocaust Educational Trust in partnership with the Union of Jewish students, with support from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.

In an increasingly fragile political climate, antisemitism, intolerance and prejudice are on the rise. The Lessons from Auschwitz Universities Project aims to bring together student and campus leaders from across university campuses in England through education on the Holocaust and anti-racism work to combat antisemitism and promote community cohesion. Our goal is to reinforce the common endeavour of students and campus staff of all faiths (and none) to create safe, inclusive and cohesive communities on campus and beyond and equip them with the tools needed to tackle antisemitism, racism and intolerance wherever it is found.

  • Thanks to Government funding, we delivered a pilot Lessons from Auschwitz Universities Project in 2018. Through this four-part educational programme, including a one-day visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau, we reached 30 university Senior Leaders and 95 Sabbatical Officers from 47 English universities.
